You can use it to make a booking to attend one of our upcoming events or to order one of our publications. For your convenience, we are working on expanding our range of online services.
Licensed Residential Builders
HPO New Home Registration
The HPO has launched a new paperless online system for HPO New Home Registration Forms. Licensed Residential Builders in good standing can log into their individual online account and order HPO New Home Registration Forms at any time by entering all the project information and paying the applicable HPO fees online. Owner Builders
Register online - it’s quick, easy and convenient! Individuals wishing to build a home under the owner-builder exemption now have the option to apply for an Owner Builder Authorization online. Benefits include:
- Faster processing of your application
- Check the status of your application online
- Update information online, including tradesperson and occupancy date
- Downloadable disclosure notice should you choose to sell your home later

Homebuyers
New Homes Registry
Use the HPO’s New Homes Registry to help you find out if a new home or new home under construction has a policy of home warranty insurance and is built by a Licensed Residential Builder. You can search for single detached homes and multi-unit (including duplex) buildings. This is a useful resource for homebuyers, realtors, lawyers, local governments, and others interested in quickly checking the status of a new home or a new home under construction.
If the home you are looking for does not have home warranty insurance it may have been built under an Owner Builder Authorization, or it may be exempt because it is a rental building. This information is also available on the Registry.
The New Homes Registry can be searched using the civic address or legal description. Only homes registered with the HPO since November 19, 2007 are searchable on this registry. If you cannot find the home you are looking for or if you are seeking information on a home registered after July 1999 and before November 19, 2007, please call the HPO toll-free at 1-800-407-7757 and select option 3 (for homeowner calls) for assistance. We will help you find the information that you are seeing on a particular property.

Publications
Building Envelope Guide for Houses
A valuable resource for homebuilders, designers and trades, the Building Envelope Guide for Houses: Part 9 Residential Construction is available. It provides practical information related to the design and construction of the building envelope for new home construction in accordance with Part 9 of the 2006 British Columbia Building Code and the 2007 Vancouver Building By-law. You can preview sample pages and order online or by fax or mail using the order form.
